not everything. . .. thats not true, depends on if the p's are well feed. and their personality all fish are diffrent!
Well fed or not, pygos are unpredictable and very terroritorial...I have read on another forum, which the hobbiest didn't miss a feeding and one of his caribas was half eatten.

Piranha are completely unpredictable, I have seen Convicts live in tanks with Piranha for months, then one morning .... Gone. It may work for a while, but eventually, they will eat the other fish. It's the nature of the beast.

You have to offer any tankmates plenty of hiding spots where your Ps can't go.

Our pleco has spots where he can sit in PLAIN VIEW and my piranha can't touch him. Simply because there's not enough room for Whip to get vertical to try and nip at Lucky.

ALSO, when I put my pleco in, I took Whiplash out, and shifted some of the plants around, breaking up his territory. Whip tried for about 5 minutes to pester the pleco, and now only headbutts him when Lucky's in his way.

Not every tank mate will be eaten, otherwise the animals would be isolated in the wild. I know, there's more space, but the fish do branch out during the wet season. Which would mean, they'd be the only species left if they ate EVERYTHING they came across. But, as I've said, don't get too attached to your ps tankmates, they'll probably end up being dinner one day.

I think another thing to consider is that as other fish get sick, injured or stressed for some reason, the piranha figure it out before you do and "take care" of the problem. The fish keeper just goes to his/her tank one day to find a skeleton. Is it really the piranha's fault? Or would you have just found a dead or dieing fish anyway without the piranha?

Just wondering...

I can just imagine the piranha's thoughts..........

Piranha: "Uh-oh, Fred's not looking too good today. It would be a shame to just let him rot and stink-up the tank! Hmmmmm, what should we do about it?" :naughty:

Fred:
