i stay in dubai,,,,,, i hav a small aquarium, about 15 litres with just goldfish and some small koi,, i love to keep clown knives in my aquarium,,,,everytime i keep it, it just lives for max a week after taht it dies off,,,i cant undrstand the reason for it ... the dealer says me to feed just the same fud (flake fud)that i feed to the othr fishes in the tank (goldfish, koi),,,,can taht b the reason or shud i feed them with some other fud??? wot is this feeder fish actually... do these ck require a water heater as i hav not fixed that yet,,....the fud that i giv to the full tank as a whole is not available to the ck ,,,, all consumed by the other fish....wot is the exact fud that i must feed these fish with???? and how can i feed them separately keeping them in the tank itself ????

Yeah, not a good mix of fish, you will need a heater though. Also, ck's take some time to accept certain kinds of food but will eat just about anything.

the clown knife most likely will not just be accepted the flake food as your dealer said...you will probably have to wean it off live food and onto other meaty foods (shrimp, krill, etc.) first

holy crap!!! only 17 litres!!! way, way, way too small and yes these guys need a heater. a feeder fish is basically a fish that feeds your fish. bigger more predatory fish like clown knife fish eat small fish. feeder fish are usually minnows and small to large common goldfish.

yeah theyre monsters and dont take to long get there. most fish stores always feed stictly feeders to fish like clown knives. it takes some time to get the off live but it can be done but not straight to flakes.

that tank is much too small for clown knives & koi!! but glad you came to the right place for advice!! good luck with your hobby cks are very cool i had one until my convicts had babies then he had to go because they will eat other fishies if they can fit in their mouth..

First off...:welcome: to MFK.

And to help you out...that tank is way too small for all those fish. Goldfish and Koi are better off on cooler water ranging from 65F-75F degrees. Clown Knives needs 78F-84F degrees. You're better off getting pellets. CKs will take flakes, but it's just not enough for them. Feeder Fish are live small fish for predatory fish to eat. It's best to avoid them or just give it to them as an occassional treat. All the fish you have can get quite large. Even Goldfish can get 12". Clown Knives can get over 20". And Koi can get over 3' Koi and Goldfish are usually kept in ponds. A CK can live in a 180g.
