Carnivorous plants

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hate to resurrect an old thread but http://www.californiacarnivores.com/ is having their annual american pitcher plant rhizome sale. It's an easy way to get large pitchers at a great price.

I've bought quite a few plants from Pete and they've always looked great and been of the highest quality so i definitely recommend them!

Thought Id bump this thread, as I am trying to grow a vft and pitcher plant.

Question. Im trying to grow my Pitcher Plant and Vft from seeds. I planted them about 2-3 weeks ago. My Vft is already off and running, but nothing from my Pitcher plant. I skipped the part of the instructions that told me to keep the Pitcher Plant in the fridge for a couple weeks after planting, then introduce them to light. I now realize that was a crucial step. Are my seeds already dead?

Never grown them but everything I read does say 4 weeks in a fridge. Hopefully someone more experienced with them will chime in. I just have the one small VFT that is regrowing after being outside all winter.

Thanks df, Ill try them again. Hopefully it won't be long till I see carnivorous plants at Home Depot again.

Thanks for the reminder ours should be coming out of its dormant state soon.

Well looks like I left the Nepenthes out a little too late this year, I have them under two T5's right now. Any idea on if they'll make it?

I don't grow carnivorous plants, however Death Pony mentioned Darlingtonia Californica to me. There's a bunch growing across the river from our house.
