Aaaaaaaaaa the bait issue bait is a big thing here years ago we used to make our own but company spent thousands of ponds developing baits now there is really no need to go to that extreme. Baits I.e. boilies can take a water apart one season then the next you cant bye a bite. I always start off with just good old sweet corn carp love it and its been around for years as a carp bait. I normally fish a plastic grain on the hair and bait up with a tin or too of the real stuff. If you use it on the hair if you have roach in there they tend to peck it clean. I also use a lot of bright coloured baits and what we call critically balanced baits.A critically balanced bait is one that through the use of a floating media such as a pop up boilie or imitation pop up bait allows the balancing of a rigged bait to offset the weight of the line and hook attached to it.
As it happens these were the rigs I used for this trip as the lake was very weedy as you can see tipped off with fake corn again.
