Carpinte x Cyanoguttatum question??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeah that one looks kinda rio

That was a short while after I took him off Chingmix sp50, which made his pearls disappear and gave him a more red base. He's got a carpinte body shape and huge blue pearls all over him now, trust me. You guys can think what you want. Do you have any information to give me about the original question?

Based on the above and from what I can see my guess is this is an SRT cull. The majority of fish that had issues with Chingmix 50 where Thai in origin so this fish could have breed in Thailand which a large portion of the RT/SRT come from. The red is pretty intense so I doubt that a single cross would get you this fish. I dont see any hint of carptine blood in this fish (lack of worms) and looks like the pearl base was cyno. I could be wrong but I think most can agree this is not a first gen fish.

Except it IS a first gen fish from a VERY reputable LFS. I bought him from a tank of carpinte fry (as opposed to the tank of cyano fry a few feet over). I live in Minnesota, we aint got no stinkin Thai fish here. He's NOT red anymore, and never was as red as the pictures show, I don't know if it was the camera or what. He now looks EXACTLY like this fish, but not as amazingly blue:
