I bought a 2.5" carpintis from fishfarm two days ago. He seems health; he's active and doesn't hide or anything weird. However, he won't eat. I drop floating pellets down to him, and he just looks at them. Then the silver dollars come and eat them from the bottom. I bought a small pike cichlid at the same time, and it eats fine. The only thing I've seen the carpintis eat is a few discus pellets I got as a free sample (they are small and the sink, so I figure they are about the right size) and 2 or 3 frozen brine shrimp. This is weird. Any ideas?

dont feed him anything but the pellets he'll eventually eat.

Just stubborn, you think? Ken said he eats pellets.

yeah probably just a different kind, he'll adapt eventually

my young cichlids never liked the floating type but loved sinking shrimp pellets, the omega one brand ones.

what about blood worms?

my psittacus love them and one or two of them are about 1.5". they've grown alot feeding on those pellets twice a day

Nothing has worked so far. Hopefully he'll start eating soon. The pike isn't picky though.
