Okay - I'll add him tomorrow morning so I can watch to make sure nobody gets seriously hurt. Thanks again James! I'll keep you updated on him... BTW the HRP I bought from you, still have that big male in my 20 long, he's as gorgeous as ever and is the clear alpha in the tank
I would not fast him per say But i would just give a pinch and see if he takes that. You do not want a bunch of uneaten food. He will settle down on his terms not yours. So enjoy what you can for now.
Just introduced him about 30 minutes ago, so far so good, convict investigated him then swam away. Hoping for the best because I have to go to work in 2 hours *crosses fingers*
Got home from work to the texas sleeping on the bottom and the convict sleeping towards the top, with the danios huddled in the corner (according to my parents they were huddled there all afternoon)... Guess we'll see what tomorrow brings
Same this morning as last night, texas hiding and the danios huddled in the top left corner, being attacked by the con.... took him out (the con) and back to QT, rearranged the tank again, and am debating about what to do.... Perhaps overstocking would work? I'm not a huge fan of overstocking with cichlids, but what do you think? smaller cichlids with him?
Overstocking with cichlids will not help. It will make the situation worse. I suggest you leave the convict in the 10 gallon for about a month.. or until the Carpintis starts eating/approaching you.
I'm assuming the convict is smaller than the Carpintis, so even if the Texas does get back comfortable, you'll have a hard time reintroducing the convict. Texas are super territorial, but hey you might be one of the lucky ones. To me, you're gonna have to get rid of the convict sooner or later, convicts are tough little things lol
