Carpintis

Females will have a black blotch in the dorsal. They are aquatic rabbits, and will breed at a very small size. You can tell when they're about to breed because both the male and female will put on a black and white breeding dress.

I've seen the videos of the carpintis, very cool. Too bad they're hybridizing with all the labridens though. :(

Mine bred with a Hartwegi, but loaches cleaned up the eggs. Would have liked to see the result though.

Where did you buy them?
I got them at forest lake pets

My male texas loves to eat Spirulina discs. I throw them in at the end of the day for my pleco's but he seems to pick them up off the bottom and eat them. I've also seen him nibbling on my live plants in the tank.

Ok I think I have two males and one female. The one male is getting beaten on. Who could I put in there to even out the aggression. Would firemouths or convicts be good tank mates?

For a little while... until they die a horrific death.

Ok need to know good tankmates................................ or dithers.................

Think along the lines of multipunctatus or clown loach. But I can't guarantee that the one that is being picked on will be left alone even if you add other fish. I would move him. They are in a 55 so you would really be cramped in a year if you add more fish. Your call... Move him and add no fish = nice room to grow ,or, add fish = cramped tank and stunted growth.

No tankmates for even one in a 55 gallon. They will kill anything in there. It doesn't matter how big the tankmate is, If it can't fight back it's as good as dead. Carpintis I find to be as aggressive as RD's. I know people are going to be like no, but IME they are. They are Tank Trashers. Your pair might be ok for a while in the 55, but remember 55 gallons doesn't provide alot of room for them.

The pair love each other. I most likely will get rid of the third since the aggression won't stop. Anyone near MN or in MN want a most likely male carpintis?
