cascade 1000

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have been reshearching the eheim 2217 and it sounds like you can't really go wrong with it. The primeing sounds similer to the rena. But the cleaning sounds like a bit more work. Comments?

So I'm guess I still haven't decided. I have always been happy with my rena's. But I really want to try something new. Its driving me nuts because I'm ready to get it now and am in desprate need of a new filter. I hate that I am so indecisive.

I don't have to get the cap on quickly, fill the intake line, put on the cap and then push the lever down on top of the cannister.
Works for me.

You know what. I have never thought of that. Man that is so much simpler. I am really bad at overthinking stuff sometimes.

I just did it on one of my xp3's and I feel a little retarded. All that time I have wasted. That sounds like the answer to my question of what filter to get. Rena xp3 it is.

So I went to like 5 shops and no of them had anything I wanted there was xp2's and xp4's galore there were cascade 700's and smaller and ehiem 2213 none of the shops had what I wanted can anyone reccomend a good online shop that ships for cheap or free if you spend more then a certain amount of money? Thanks.

I think drsfosterandsmith is shipping at a flat rate for 5.99? and thatpetsplace has free shipping over 100$

Just google what you are looking for and hit shopping. It will give you a list of prices from different retailers. Also check out petco.com, ebay and thatpetplace.com.

If you buy from an online dealer like Big Al's or Drs. Foster & Smith, check out savings.com & bet you can find a discount code. I'm in the same filter dilemma right now, but I think I have more time than you, so I'm gonna see how you like yours before I commit!

I use to have a cascade 1000. It worked well enough for a while but after 8 months it wasn't working nearly as well. I was cleaning it but it still didn't have the original flow and I hated all the bypass. I replaced it with an eheim and I couldn't be happier. I got both the cascade and the eheim from Kensfish. He has great prices and the shipping is reasonable.

I have personally used both canister and hob cascade filters. I think they are great, never had a problem with them and are not overpriced like the eheims. Thats my 2 cents
