I live in covington, work is located in Tacoma (by Bates), but I travel throughout western Washington for service calls, so i visit most of the bigger LFS when I can, the 2 places that I think have the good rare stuff is Pet Pourri(Everett), and the other is A Place for Pets(Burien). I just picked up a green Sunfish and a Bowfin from Pet Pourri, for a cold water tank I also have set up...The Sunfish is way more aggressive than the Bowfin, and I was worried about the sunfish!

If you ever need pickup/delivery service. let me know. I have already met with Knifegill for the crushed coral he had, solves the soft water condition that we have to deal with here in Washington.

I saw the bowfins up at Pet Pourii about a month ago, pretty awesome fish. I really wanted one but my tank is pretty much done in regards stocking.

Hope to see some pics of yours when its big.

Yeah, it's small and shy right now, but I can see some craftiness already...And when it gets irritated, it chomps its mouth..looks like barning, lol...

I wanted to keep a cold water tank (I have 3 bigger tanks) and a bowfin just seemed to be a natural! Seeing as this is still the filtration forum, Yoou should see the one for this tank...Look up filter tube in the DIY section. :naughty:

put some bio bale in there. s*** is cheap at 7 smackers a bag. lasts forever. they use it on the big fish farms. works fantastic with me. i just rinse it in water from the big ole' eheim and put it back in right quick. none of that expensive filter crap that they says cleans like no other and all that jazz. the bale stuff just works. da bale look like dam easter colored stuff, you knwo for the baskets and easter egg hunts and s***, ya that stuff.

The problem with the bio bale in my setup is the lack of space to be really effective. If I was making a 55 gallon filter for a pond then heck yeah, this would be the media of choice...

If I spend a couple bucks more(the Fluval prefilter media was only $12, and it was enough to fill my first basket. I have been using this for 3 days, so I don't know if it works or not, but I think that Fluval might have done a little research on their products, so it should work as advertised.;)
