Cascade 1500 canister media question

I'm picking up a used cascade 1500 for 40 bucks, but it has no media. Should i just buy the standard media from my local fish store? Or can I use other types of media that will work better. Any input would be great, Thanks.

I have a 1200 and I bought other media (fluval- price was better for same thing but dont tell cascade). The media i have is floss that was cut to size, bag to put carbon in, fluval ammonia rings, and the black foam on the bottom.

if i were you i would buy media at the lfs that way you can pick a good media,
the media that comes with the filter sucks
