Have any of you ever used them? I am most curious about the 200 and 300 models...

I got a Cascade 200 a couple months ago at an LFS, I like trying different brands - I've had Bio Wheels, Whisper, Aquaclear etc as well...

It is an ok filter but not great, when I first powered it up I thought it was broken. It took quite some time to fire up, I had to tap the filter around and remove and insert the impeller quite a few times. Once it fired up it started moving some water well though. The media it came with I still have it in but I am about to replace it all, it clogged up uber fast and caused the water to start pouring back over the intake area. Also the little Bio Falls system, it is neat but not super effective. When you remove it the filter output is nice and powerful but in place it makes very little water movement. It also restricts flow some because even more water pours over the intake area. I simply clipped it in half or so, this way some water passes through it but it doesn't restrict flow and it allows more water movement. I likely wouldn't get another but it's not horrible, just not great.

I have the 300 got it about a year ago, its a good filter, quiet anf keeps the water in good condition. really can't complain.

As stated above, it's an ok filter. IMO it requires more maintenance than I believe a canister should. Flow began to slow after about a month, admittedly the tank was well stocked. I admit to being spoiled by my eheim 2217 which requires maintenance roughly every six months. That is what I would recommend (doesn't have to be a 2217 obviously).

Currently the cascade helps with water changes.

We're not talking about Cascade canister filters. We're talking about the HOB power filters. ;)

Thanks for the answers guys.

I tried the 500, pretty much same results as the others have said. Not much better than the aqua-techs they sell at wal mart.
