Cat 'speaks Chinese'

A Chinese grandmother claims her cat can talk.

Granny Lv, 70, of Changchun city, says Mimi has become a local celebrity because he can speak Chinese.
She said: "I was playing mahjong with friends at home, and suddenly I heard someone call me 'Laolao' (Grandma).
"My first thought was that it was my granddaughter, but she was not at home."
Lv then realised her pet had made the sound, reports City Evening News.
"It may be because my granddaughter calls me Laolao all day long, and Mimi learnt it after hearing it so many times," she said, adding that Mimi had since expanded her vocabulary.
"When he wakes up and sees nobody around, he'll say, 'ren ne?' (where is everyone?). When we're playing mahjong, he'll come over and say, 'gan sha ne?' (what are you doing?)."
Neighbour Mrs Wang say Mimi's pronunciation is very clear, but "he sounds like a little girl, although he is a boy".

If this is true, that would be fricken cool.

That would be cool, maybe it can tell us about some acts of weird abusive behavior towards animals. Chinese culture really loves animals.

are you being sarcastic?

I don't know, asian culture in general whether its illegal whaling from japan or the desire to eat rare and endangered animals, still seems to appreciate animals in general. In some way or form even if it is hitting a tortoise on the head with a coin giving you whatever spiritual gain.

In China, it is now becomming a fad to own pets. It'd be interesting to see what China will have to do with the pets in 4 years.
