illegal whaling from japan

japan hunts whales legally under the IWC, which is to preserve "sustainable" whaling... not to make whaling illegal entirely.

it's nice to blame japan but let's not forget that westerners have just as much responsibility for the decline of whale populations. japan now only hunts (along with nordic countries) whales with "sustainable" populations.

just because you don't agree with another country/culture's view on the use of animals doesn't make them wrong.

ps - i'm against whaling, eating exotic/endangered animals, senseless slaughtering, poaching... you simply can't label "asians" or "chinese" people in such general terms.

Maybe i haven't looked into it enough, but a look through the sea shepherd and greenpeace websites will most likely show otherwise.

This thread was about someone from china...and maybe i was pissed after reading the thread about the animals to the lions thing. And a quick look though most groups like sea shepherd/greenpeace, and organizations cracking down on the illegal trafficking of endangered/rare animals almost always has its sights aimed at various asian countries. Scapegoats? Not by chance...

obviously, everyone has his own view on these issues. what I do agree though, is that there should be more regulation and better management on natural resources (including animals) in developing countries.
