I can thank my wife for this less than great downgrade. I managed to find almost every guppy/platy/swordtail and a lot of fry too though so I guess that's a win

I can't imagine how much it must suck to flood a finished basement with aquarium water

Location looks like it opens up lots of possible scenarios. Getting out or putting up vacuum, stacking chairs, door knob on door behind tank, moving stepladder, etc. Yeah, you've got us curious, tell us the details, but go easy on the wife.

Long story short, she dropped an unused support pole that was wedged between the stove and the foundation of the house. The pole was there for 6 years and she freed it by pushing on it with a window screen she found god knows where.

I was hanging out with my boy upstairs when I heard a bang, water, then yelling. I rushed downstairs and found her.
I don't blame her for it, she didn't know there was a pole there and accidents happen. She helped clean it up and finding the fish.

I knew the pole was there, it's never been an issue for the 6 years it's been there but I guess I should've put it someplave else just in case

Strange accidents happen. My cousin recently stepped on her sister's dog (front paw) and pulled two of his claws out! Dog is doing ok but howled as you can imagine.
