hey whats up guys i was just wondering if anyone here ever caught a fish and tryed to put it in ur aquariums??? just wondering about if its legal or possible to with no problems, cause i live across the street from a river and there are these crazy looking eel like fish in there that gets pretty big and i wanted to throw one in a tank... but im not sure.. any advice would be most greatful...:headbang2 thanx!!

yea youd want to mimic the habitat as best you can maybe even take gravel samd from that river and try and match ph to that of the river
in what size tank?

This may be better in the coldwater/native forum.

Check your state laws. If the fish you plan on keeping is considered a game fish then i can almost garuntee that you cant keep one, especially if it is under size.

i got a 55g and a 120g so either one pending on how big its is, also its not a safe fishing river there are signs up and down it that say do not eat fish or crabs caught in this river, so no one ever fishes it so its swarming with fish. its very easy to catch...but i guess i better check first uh???

I always wanted to go down to the jersey shore or something and fish out a nice lemon shark and bring it back home, I would just be sneaky about and if its illegal then ill jus keep it on the dl lol.. Oh btw from fishing in NJ most places would be pretty easy to keep an illegal sized fish, just catch it and leave.. Of course these prob arent the most moral things to do but im just puttin it out there

heck i caught my jaguar cichlid and hes a beauty . id get the water outa the river for the tank , the fish already live in it so its gota be ok for them already . if you can you should take a pic of these eels and find out what kind they are, they could be non native fish so you can catch as many as you want , infact if anyone has a non native fish thats not supose to be in the waters you should catch as many as you can and save your enviroment.

Check all state and local laws first, if OK do it and take a pic of the eel.
