i dont think u can catch eels with a hook, just make a eel trap it very easy and you get buckets of them in acouple of days. Stripers chomp them up like candy

Is minnow trap same thing as eel trap ?

i caught a baby crappie and put him in there,hes doing fine

heck i caught my jaguar cichlid and hes a beauty . id get the water outa the river for the tank , the fish already live in it so its gota be ok for them already . if you can you should take a pic of these eels and find out what kind they are, they could be non native fish so you can catch as many as you want , infact if anyone has a non native fish thats not supose to be in the waters you should catch as many as you can and save your enviroment.

Did you catch it in lake or canal? I have seen Oscars in canals and suprised at their size .
Next time I walk the canal line will take pics of whats in the canal as the fish are usually near the edge .
I dont have the room for a jag cichlid but find them outstanding looking cichlids just great pattern.
