mine is easy to catch cause he lives in pvc piping. so all i have to do is close one end of the pipe and lift him out lol

+1

In the past I have also used a small pillow case. Place it in the tank, they then hide in it and you can scoop them out...

I think I'm going to take a plastic bag and scoop him up, sand and all. I haven't seen the eel's hole body in quite awhile... I think it just squirms around beneath the sand to keep from being seen....

I found the easiest way to catch an eel! Put a big plastic bag in your tank. Locate your eel. Take the bag and scoop out the sand where the eel is cleverly hidden. Once the eel catches on to your tactic, it will swiftly jump out of the water and squirm around behind the tank on the floor. Quickly retrieve your fuzzy spiny eel and put it in the bag.

Dude that's is kinda funny. I knew there was a reason to be a engineer. You should put a patent on it

just put a large enough pvc pipe in the tank to cover its whole body, then when hes in their hiding just put a net on one end and your hand on the other

Well I'm glad he's ok though

give him a hide out you can pick up. like a glass vase. I've had two tire tracks and neither ever gave me a problem, both allowed themselves to be corraled into net. Is he still small?

Well, I've tried PVC, clay pots, large shells, and other miscellaneous objects for hideouts. This stupid eel only likes to bury itself. The fish is around 6"+. If I can't train it to readily take food when presented, I'm going to trade it in at my LFS. I like the fish, it's a really cool fish, but I don't like that it's a huge pain in my butt.
