well... consider what most of us feed our Big Cats... Shrimp... they arn't freshwater shrimp :grinno: it's the Big ol Salt water monster shrimp :D

Saltwater fish is fine to feed to your fish...and it's surprising how cheap you can find shrimp and other types of Fish at the local markets :D

ahhh... bass you always point out the gaps in my simple mind so wonderfully! :D:ROFL:
Good point! haha

i agree. i wouldnt take the risk

Now that Bass has pointed out the market fish/shrimp thing... I'm failing to see the difference in feeding perch fillets I caught, and tillapia fillets or shrimp or cod someone else would buy. They are all fish that were swimming around at some point...

Le Patron was quote someone else my dear :D... but the fact remains that in order to make them safer you should freeze them to make sure that the parasites are dead

Freezing them is best, but I can't claim that I never have fed a live perch to my big hybrid. I think curiosity gets the best of me sometimes. I would fillet them also as if you feed them whole and they can't digest the bones you'll be cleaning up a nasty mess that can clog filters in a heartbeat.

Oh I know he was... my response was more to them both, but I was too lazy to go back to the original post... haha
but now going back... i guess my wording was a little hard to understand. I fixed it... i think...

Local or Ethnic markets will have many seafood selections usually at lower prices then Jewel and Dom's. I've got a Mexican market near me that has fresh Talapia fillets at half the cost of Jewel. I often find a Fat-A steak that is only a couple of bucks there too.

Thanks for the tip. I have an asian market near by that would probably be similar.
