Catching fish in a tank with a vatf

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So i got them out safely....vatf ended up jumping out of a small gap i had for netting the tinfoil barbs out..... funny thing is he shot up out of the tank so high that i had enough time to actually catch him mid air with the net. I wish i could of gotten it on video lol

Lights are shut off.... almost done refilling the tank......thanks for the help boys

When I was netting out my Dorado to ship I had one jump up and hit the ceiling then landed back in the tank. Flighty fish are a pain.

My VATF jumped so high and far during this one time that it shot past my head and landed 10 feet away thrashing about. Luckily no serious injury was inflicted. Also in my past experience the larger the net isn't necessarily the best as I've had a couple nets completely chewed through by my gatf. It's rather easy for the wrong fish to dart into a giant net and really freak out. At least I guess my nets were too easy to chew through.. Had to pull him out after half his body was stuck in the opening he bit threw. Lol

I think i rem your post on this was it just this past year?

My tank is 2 feet tall and the water was prob only 4 inches high with pretty much the whole tank covered. I knew he would jump but wasnt expectiong him to clear the tank and out the small opening lol

Yes I posted about this last year lol. The important thing is that you got the job done. My current tank is just under 3ft and with the stand is over 6ft tall. So the VATf flying over my head and 10 feet away shouldn't have been so surprising but it was when it happened lol.

I am getting nervous now about transferring my ATFs to a larger tank later this year. LOL!!!

Lol Red Aimara Red Aimara I'm also nervous about transferring my ATF when I have the setup ready. Going to have to take off the canopy and have a big styrofoam box.

LOL!

It is gonna be a huge task for us.

I might be engaging the service of a LFS to assist as well. This involves transferring 5 ATFs, 1 Bambusa and 1 Odoe (jumpy fishes) as well as my huge AUL to the new tank.

Then I will need to put the current Pygos comm (I reckon they should hit 5-6 inches size by that time) into the former ATF tank.
