its comes time to catch out my large female motoro out of a 30 inch wide tank.any tips on catching large rays ?
also is clove oil as a sedative a good idea and will it harm biological bacteria ?

Well first off, have fun getting wet LOL! That beast will splash water across the room LOL! If you can find a tub that is around 24" by 18" then buy it to use. The wash tub works but the best thing is to keep the ray in water. If you have holes in the tub to low and the water drains out of it, the ray has potential to freak out and that is bad. Find a good size plastic tub and guide the ray into it and lift off the bottom. At the surface drain about half the water off and lift out. You might want another person there to help out. You can use a large fishing net with the larger holes to get the ray out but then you will have a 10 lb ray that will not be very happy when lifted out of the water. Just make sure the tub is deep enough that his tail will not stick out over the top. Not safe to carry a tub with a tail whipping at you. Good Luck

I saw another guy use a big fishing net to catch the ray then set her on the floor. Put on some thick gloves and grab her by the thick part of the tail and put her in the bag.

I used the same method recently and it worked out pretty well. Just make sure she does not get caught in the net. I used a net with big holes so her stinger couldnt get tangled.
