catching stingray question

I've actually help some LFS bag their rays since most don't get them often. One day I was at a lfs and some guy was buying a 12" Motoro...a pair of them...the guy at the store was trying to back the ray for almost 30mins...LOL...so I finally gave in and told them I've got rays and I'll help bag her!..took me less then 5 mins to bag both using the bag method....burried half the bag under the gravel and gently guilded the ray with a prong into the bag, lifted it and she's in!...got her out and place in styroform box and did the second...the buyer asked if I could go and put them into his tank at home...I said ummm...I'm busy! At least the buyer had a 220 tank for them to go into....

get a net thats to small for the ray

put the ray in head 1st with the tail hanging out the back of the net then hold the tail with thick garden gloves on this stops the tail thrashing about or getting caught in the net

i have moved many rays big and small this works fine

i tried to use that method on my 20 inch motoro. he punctured the bag. so he had to go in a bag with little or no water, luckyly it was to the container right next to the tank.

I use this method also but I'm trying to find a big rubber net for future moves.

just netted two large rays last week. i used a rubber fishing net called a landing net the safest and best method i have found.

as long as you dont panic it should be fine :D
