Catching wild fish for the tank.

I get 899 on SSD so I am right there with you. I was just saying that that would be cheaper than building a pool.

If looks don’t bother you, those kiddie pools with the collapsing sides are very cheap and hold 190+gals depending on the size you get. I housed my koi in one for over a year in my basement.
 
I would check with local fish stores and see if they will trade for the plecs or any other invasive you can catch for store credit. Im not sure on regulations in your state but most people wouldnt mind the removal of such fish.

Jewels are out if Africa, but not a Rift Lake cichlid. It's from the rivers and likes simular waters to SA/CA cichlids. There is a really bright red version as well. They grow a bit smaller than cons, about the same temperament. Reproduce like rabbits, so in theory can be used to make clean feeders like cons are.
Tho I don't know if being from Africa, disqualifies them from being feeders for SA/CA fish. My Oscar did eat one....
