With me building my giant cat tank a question came to mind while reading another thread. Is it possible to keep a FRT with large catfish in a very large tank........say 3000ish gals?????

i don't see why not...but the one thing that may concern you truly is that the RTC and the RTCxTSN and Piraiba swallowing your FRT....but how big do the FRT get? plus how big are you going to buy them at what size? As long as it can't fit in the cats huge mouth then you good plus that size tank/pond is a good size one to house the monster catfishes you have currently and the turtles aswell

if frt cant be eaten by cats i dont see why not.....

I don't know much about the turtle in question, but I was just wondering if they are aggressive towards fish at all when housed in a large tank. I'd like a little biodiversity, and turtles are my fav reptiles. Turtle/Catfish tank lol. Would be awesome, but I don't even know how much they cost. I've seen vids on youtube where people have them with large fish, and the frt look huge. I've also seen mata-mata with fish, that would be the second choice and possibly to be housed along with the frt. I think I just have big-tank-itis.

frt have turned against there tank mates but some people have good luck with them... it depends on the turtle... they are very expensive and hard to come by... do to there status on cities you have to find somebody with one who is selling it... cant post it for sale or do a WTB on mfk either...

yea i heard of some turning out on their tankmates but that was in a tank less than a 1,000 gallon plus your 3,000 gallon is like huge so i see if the turtle has aggresive tendencies then i don't see how it can in a vase space plus if the turtle tries to attach your cats...they have a huge space to swim away from the turtle plus theirs too many cats for the FRT to aim at once

Good FRT's usually turn bad.
One nice crescent out of the spine and instant death to the cat.......

yup :nilly: but if your cats are way bigger than the FRT and still can't eat the FRT you should be fine...just keep a look out every now and then to see if they start to turn on your cats ;) don't want a great huge cat dead from a pesky turtle nipping at the catfishes

hmmm, that's what I was affraid of. Can't chance the catfish safety. I tried putting my painted turtle in the pond, but he tried to bite my fish instantly. He'd make a good snack for my big boy, but I don't know how well he can digest turtle shell lol. I don't think I'll try it, but a mata mata would be killer. Any luck with those? I know they get kinda big.
