Catfish and FRT

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
when i kept a FRT it was with a large scarlet pleco that was best mates with it for sometime

the FRT used to stand up on all 4 legs like a table and let the pleco clean him

then i started to see the FRT swimming around with the pleco in its mouth then the pleco had no tail then the FRT killed it then he started killing tigers/dats for fun

Most FRT's like to try getting at the fish...when kept with fish they get used to eat some of the fish's food and get a taste for "carnivorous " food. So, if kept with fish, keep the FRT with fish that swim fast and that won't "hurt" you very much when the **** hits the fan, because it most probably will..

Also FRT's like more alkaline water than your SA fish, thriving better in higher PH values.

As to Matamatas although the water parameteres are the same as those of your cats, they eat everything that they can "vacuum" into their mouths. If the fish are bigger I see no problem, with one note: Matas do not swim, so the water needs to be shallow ( or you need to have a shallow place for it in the tank )...That is "doable " , or not, depending on the depth of water you will want for your tanks.

my water depth will be 40ish", but I could easily build a shelf for a matamata if it were to be safe for my fish.
