ID's and Syno's would be great to look at in a shoal. I know they are'nt catish but Clown Loach always look great in a big shoal of 10 upwards

If you get a dozen or so corydoras and the conditions are right they may start breeding - then you'd have a monster school of cories!!! Or you could get a nice school of pictus cats or four-lined pims.
I never thought of pictus, Ive never really had an interest in them the last time i had this tank set up it was a clown knife 3 RD, FH, butterikofi big pleco and im sure there were more i just cant remember 5 years ago alot has changed. THis time i want an active but alot more fish in it than just a dozen big mean guys.
As far as cories I like the bigger "emerald cories" the pet stores sell for a group.
THen plan for the tank is to use a DIY Trickle/wet dry setup with white sand on the bottom with large round river rocks for accents and maybe some slate i'll just have to wait to see what i come up with.

ONe more questions do the regular Porthole cats school or are the more loners?
