Catfish food question please answer

I have a baby red tail catfish I've had him for about a month and he is already 5-6 inches long I will be starting him on Hikari Massivore Delite and I would also like to add various things to his diet as he gets older i currently feed a variety but I am looking to feed him raw fish caught from a local lake here in so cal used to supply drinking water I was thinking is it safe to feed him the fish out of that lake because the water is so clean?? I will be feeding him bluegill caught from this lake is it ok to feed to him ? The fish is good enough for people so i think it will be ok and if I eventually feed him market shrimp and fish caught from this lake can I crush up spirinula flakes or whatever it's called into the raw fish for color
I was told market fish are able to be fed to RTC so I don't see how feeding fish from this drinking water resivor would be any different oh and the bluegill would be filleted and thoroughly cleaned

People cook food(usually) and this eliminates risk of bacteria and parasites. I'd recommend freezing first.

no it was just an odd coincidence 2 people asked about feeding wildcaught fish to their catfish 3 min apart. just need to be careful not to introduce disease or parasites, no matter how "clean" the water source
 
Lol yeah I had the other post...I laughed a little when I saw you had almost st exactly the same question as me! At least we have this topic covered well Haha!

Just because the water is used to supply the municipal utilities, does not mean it itself is drinkable by any means. It goes through many stages of purification and sterilization by either chloramine, ozone, UV, etc. I'd at least freeze what you catch. I'd not fillet them, just cut off the prickly fins/rays, and cut them in pieces if needed.
 
Ok thank you guys for all the help on this forum I really do appreciate it I am kind of new to the forum so I am still weary as to what is ok and isn't ok to ask because on other forums in the past I've gotten my head bitten off for asking questions like this if I am to learn more i need support not utter rudeness and so far I've got nothing but support from people on this forum thank you guys again for all the help i appreciate the help :)
