That's true but any and all parasites are killed by a good freezing, AFAIK. Have you told them that or do you feed live/fresh?

it isnt just parasites and disease, most wild fish deal with these and can fight them off. fish in aquariums do not have the same immune system to fight stuff off. it would be like being raised in a sterile lab your whole life then bringing in someone off the street to live with. the common cold could be fatal if you never built up defense to it.

it isnt common but it could potentially wipe out your tank, and i think the risk vs reward isnt worth just feeding wild foods. also feeding whole fish is a good idea like stated above because different parts of fish are very high in nutrition including the head and guts

I feed them live from my pond. I wouldnt trust any other place to get them from. I just trust it because ive been doing it for 5 years and didnt realize the potential threats until recently. I wouldn't do it if I were you.

Glad your experience had been a positive one. Yet, I'd side with those who cautioned you. Any body of water outside is subject to visits by animals (crustaceans, raccoons, birds, etc.) that carry parasitic and bacterial cultures from the water bodies they have been recently to. Anyhow, just food for thought, nothing more.
