Could I keep a Tiger Shovel Nose in a 225 gallon for about 2 years? Dimensions are 6' x 2' x 30". If not what would be a better choice? And also what would be a cool catfish that could live in there for life? If I go with a Silver Arowana then I will upgrade in about 2 years but if I go with a Jardini it will be in the 225 for life.

Yes I agree also. A width of 2' wouldn't be healthy for the Aro and the car as they need wide area to swim. If u keep them inside a 2' enclosure, u might end up with a bent snout in your TSN. A width of 3' would be just about right only.

For me the rule is 4xL by 2xL by 2xL, where L is the fish length. This means that when your TSN exceeds 1', your 2'-wide tank will become unsuitable (IMO of course).

If you like the large pim look, check out this genus: http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=203

Or filter the Cat-eLog by size and widen/explore your options.

Coolness is in the eye of a beholder...

In the wild, silvers and jardinies are not that different in final size - 3'-4'. I don't know the statistics for the captive kept aros.

I was told that if I bought a 6" or less Arowana it could work for 2 years and in captivity Jardinis stay a lot smaller from what I've seen on YouTube. Most are kept in 180's and they look healthy. Do you guys have any info on Lima's?

Limas can reach up to 24" in length. I wouldn't keep one in a 2' wide tank as they are not a flexible as a arow.
