the lfs had a small (4''?) beat up brown catfish with black speckles on it in a tank. it was very chubby and very wide and i almost thought it was a Bullhead, but it wasnt. Oh, it was labeled as "Burm Catfish"

Could be a zungaro zungaro? From the description of speckles and wide, I figured its a possibility.
for some reason im thinking pictus, but that may just be because every fish store has atleast 1 or 2
lol all this speculation, brown with black spots you say, I am going to guess syno eureptus (sp). Pictures are the only real way to give anyone more than a shot in the dark and correctly IDing.
