Catfish id

It does not look like eupterus to me. The pattern looks wrong. The dorsal shape and absence of trailers looks wrong.

It'd be easier to guess if we had full body shots but the syno experts on PCF would likely tell you even with these shots, UNLESS it is a hybrid... then again, full body shots would be needed, I think.

My impression from staring at it is that it looks a genuine species to me.

Might use a net to contain and bring it to the front glass or a phototank / photojar / photopitcher / photocup / photosack / etc. :)

Neither will cause any significant harm to the fish.
 
Agreed that the fish does not have eupterous markings now that I have thought it over a little more.I looked through some of my catfish books and could not find a match for it.
 
I'll try for a better picture when I home more this weekend.
