What is the price tag? I doubt it, although it does look like wycki in tat photo. Hemibagrus nemurus is farmed for food and most of them, if not all, are albino. Used to be available in the USA at $5.

Albino wyckii is a rarity and very expensive. vincentwugwg vincentwugwg

My nemurus at 12"-14" (I'd say the eyes on yours are significantly smaller... could be wyckioides...)

I would be extremely surprised if a LFS would have an albino wyckii in stock. The current market value for an albino wyckii catfish is well over 4k.. a LFS would have to retail one at 6k or more for this to make any sense.

It doesn’t look like a H. Nemurus.
However the Hemibagrus group contains a number of other large cats all which could conceivably be available albino if one is lucky enough.
I think that the LFS is going on the colour of the tail, with the white top and bottom. Unfortunately the Wyckioides also has these colour differences when smaller, albeit not always white, but would they appear white in an albino form? I don’t know as have never seen anyone selling a small albino Wyckioides, they have all been nemurus or similar smaller hemibagrus.
I too would be surprised an LFS getting an albino Wyckii but i would them getting an albino Wyckioides too.
If the price was right I would buy either an albino Wyckii or Wyckioides.

Can’t tell for sure which this is.

Victor,
It’s a shame you lost that fish.
Having taken another look at your photos of your albino I am more convinced that you had a rarer fish than h. Nemurus.
I actually think from the colouring of the fins, especially the adipose, the Fish’s shape and that of its fins that you had a male albino h. Hoevenii.

Looks like an albino wyckii, with that white coloration on top/bottom caudal fins. It has longer adipose so it's truly said fish. But so cheap for an albino wyckii.

Fishman Dave Fishman Dave hoevenii are native where I'm from, they have different head & body shape. Also albino hoevenii non-existent (that I know of).
