big al's. usually the staff at that location is excellent in the advice and information area, so I trust them. I notice your am Albertan as well. If you live in Edmonton, its the one on 34 ave and 99st.

Yup I am familiar with it. I live in Edmonton as well. Didn't have the greatest experience last time I was in there though to be honest. They have been okay in the past though so maybe it was just a bad experience. I have noticed a few mislabeled fish here and there lately as well as I found a random catfish that no one could tell me anything about, including the manager. But I still go in there all the time so I guess I can't complain too much haha. Nice to see a local on here btw.

I was in there today, they mislabel a a bunch of fish, sold me a L190 as an L191, also an Adonis pleco labeled as an L155, good thing I know the difference between the 2 Royal plecos, and that the Adonis is not numbered as an L155 it doesn't have an L# only a name Polka dot lyre tail pleco or Adonis pleco, have seen several Catfish in there labeled as just Sydontinis, but not what type. usually they are really good in there.

yeah its is nice to see another Edmontonian. they have a habit of selling fish that are ill. so always pick the fish out of the tank yourself. ever id that catfish? do you have a preferred store here in edmonton? i would love to know about it if you do. Petsmart has limited selection and those guys at petland have no idea what they're talking about

You'd think being almost solely a fish store they would have the experience and the knowledge to be able to properly label and identify their own fish. There was a single catfish in a tank with some synodontis. I'm not sure if you saw it while you were in there, but I asked about it and no one, not even the manager, knew anything about it. Not even the possible type or anything. That was irritating to say the least. Plus their peacock bass literally have ick everytime I go in there. lol As for favorite fish store.... I go to aquagiant every now and again. Every once and a while you can get a good deal in there. More common species tend to be more expensive there, such as id sharks and tetras and what not, but they had senegal bichirs for 10 bucks and peacock bass for 13. Also if you befriend them on facebook they give you 10% off. But they are a bit dingy. Just a heads up if you've never been there. Overall I prefer big als though. They have better selection and quality, for the most part.

Aquagiant actually has fairly good prices on frozen foods too if that is something you are interested in.

Yea I can let you know if I see anything cool in there. If you have facebook you can also add the guy as a friend and he has update lists on his stock and sales, so you could see if your interested in anything before making the trip.
