Catfish + Rays = Stress?

What kind of rays do you have gr8? I agree about not worrying unless the rays seem stressed/not eating or something like that. But if you are trying to mate them, the catfish is probably getting in the way lol.

This is a good example of the cool behaviors we get to experience from fish keeping. I say if the rays arent doing anything about it then you dont need to. Is the catfish doing anything while he's down there? Maybe there is some kind of mutually beneficial reason for this?

I've kept rays with my big marbled pim and the only time I've seen any issues is during feeding time, when the catfish knows the ray has food beneath its disc and wants to get it bad.

I've never had the ray react with aggression, but when the ray swims away that fast or freaks out and throws up a cloud of substrate it worries me about stress.

I'm no expert, but my 450 did consist of a rtc, tsn, and niger at one point along with my rays. There weren't many issues, but if the rtc knew food was under the rays, he'd try really hard to get underneath them.

The rays like to use the cats as launching pads. They also like to bury the niger since he's the smallest.

So far so good, but I took the rtc out when he got too big. The tsn and niger don't seem to do much.

I would keep an eye on things. If its really worrying you though, I'd say better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the comments all....

if the rays are still acting normal i wouldnt worry about it.

im surprised the ray dosnt give the cat a little nip to show him who's boss

Im hoping the cat doesnt get tagged eventually! :(
