I just bought a 8'x3'x2.5' 450 gallon tank. It will have larger more robust ca/sa cichlids--Midas, fh, gt, creni. Sveni, jd and cons. Is there a cat that tops out around 15-18 inches that I don't have to worry about eating my cons--probably the smallest cich. in the tank? I have about a 6" syno in there if that makes a difference. Fairly inexperienced with cats and all advice/suggestions appreciated. Thanks

what about a gulper cat? lol

wouldn't a gulper have the cons for lunch eventually?

Yea, gulpers will eat your convicts ... I think he's just pulling your leg.

One of the medium sized doradidae would work, they're more scavengers than hunters ... like Megalodoras uranoscopus. Or common plecos. Sun or eclipse cats are hunters and definitely will hunt down frys.

hmmm i think planetcatfish.com will give you a better idea
as you can search according to size

I've really yet to see a suncat get over 8-9".. I know they say they get to 18" but if they do that would take 20 years :D

Both get over the 15-18 inch range.

Lima shovelnose is the cat for you, they can get 20-22 but more likely 18 - anyway whats an extra couple of inches.
