Are there any cool catfish that are not huge food hogs? I am going to get a school of Elephantnose fish for my 155g tank (45g sump) and was wondering if there are any cool catfish in the 4-12in range who won't out-compete the ENs for food.
Thanks!

Not a lot that I can think of :D. Maybe Ancistrus species.

Cory catfish? You can get a really unique species and just have maybe 20-40 to make an amazing show of what happens in nature.

Maybe a vulture? Mine has been amazing. Eats like a pig but all of my fish get time to eat. Loaches, cichlids and plecos then the vulture cats chows down. Just a little over 12" mine shares his tank with a 1" convict and several 2" clown loaches so his aggression isn't bad at all.

Well the vulture gets bigger than I want. I'd really prefer in the 4-10 in max size range. I also read they are very aggressive, although it sounds like yours is not.

As to corys, yes I do love them, but I want something different, because I actually already have a dedicated cory tank with about 30 peppered and bronze corys that I picked up at Petsmart on sale for $1 each. It is very cool seeing their behavior in there though. I want to add a school of otos to that tank to see their natural behavior.

Keep the ideas coming!

Any comments on how a school of pictus catfish would do? How aggressive of feeders are they? I really like them because they are active, and stay out and about like corys. I'm not a huge fan a catfish that hide constantly. (ahem, bumblebee catfish!)

They can be aggressive little feeders especially towards other bottom dwellers

I kind of figured that, but this is my first bigger tank (over 70g) so I'm not really an expert on the bigger catfish, so I thought I'd see what people thought. Are any of the synos more laid back in their feeding habits. They are beautiful fish!

How big of fish would a pictus eat? I always have a hard time judging with catfish! Would they do well in a 72g with zebra, kubotai, historanica, and yoy loaches?
