Catfish that WON'T Hog food?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
there are some really nice syno species about, they arnt too greedy and it would keep with the african theme?

Synos can be really greedy, at least the two i had all the food before my bichirs or even BGK would get to it, and rapheals are terrible IMO because they can literally eat themselves to death, and the one i had was NEVER out, never even saw him come out for feedings so i gave him to my LFS.

Why not get a SA bumblebee catfish?

Or an asian bumble bee, love my one... he is not greedy at all and get a little larger than the sa... another option is a suncat?

Lots of good syno species. Decorus is one of my favorites but they like to be kept solo, I don't mean no tankmates I mean no other synodontis. S decorus gets about 10" from my knowledge. Asian bumblebees are great though, mine is always swimming around during the day so last night I stayed up late after lights out to see how he is around midnight. Well shined a red light into the tank and he's swimming in circles around the bottom faster than I could count!

I always felt a good appetite was a reason to keep cats. I like to see my fish feed and that is pretty much guaranteed with the whole genus.

I was thinking of having like a group of 3 -4 with them.

Eh I wouldnt, just because if they all bash into a bichir it may cause some damage to the bichir. If the bottom if your tank has a lot of hides and such it would probably work, I only had 2 or 3 in a 70 gallon tank
