Catfish with centrals

I've got both sun cats and Raphael cats in with my aggressive CAs and SAs and have no problems with them. My larger sun cat will actually go "toe to toe" with my 6" Hartwegi and 7" Jack Dempsey...he avoids my Midevil but they're together without a problem.

Just another note about Sun Cats: they have that really bulky classic catfish look to them but don't get huge so they're kind of a perfect choice if you have a tank that is 18" or less wide.

I have a group of cories in with some vieja growouts(this wasn't planned, I needed a tank for the vieja and the cories tank was all I had open). Vieja are between 3.5 & 4.5. No deaths, but plents of nips & chases. I expect it to get worse as the vieja get size.

I'm not a big catfish guy, but I was looking on Rapps site yesterday and he has some really interesting catfish stock right now. You might want to check them out and see what catches your eye - I saw good looking color/patterns.

In the Mexican cenotes there are Ictalurid catfish that get at least the size of an adult jack dempsey, and seem to hold their own. They resemble our north American bullheads, but a bit thinner, don't think they reach as far south as Nicaragua if you want to be geographically correct.
From a photo of cenote Cristalino, here's one in the lower left corner

And totally incorrect geographically, I keep Synodontus petricola with S and central Amer cichlids, and except during spawning, the cichlids seem to ignore the catfish.

I too keep syndontis petricola with my CA cichlids with absolutely no problems. Ill even catch some of the petricola swimming all over the larger cichlids.

I am actually selling my rtxtsn today I hope. He is 12" to 14" max right now and last night had a really high bodied 4" vieja synspila half way out his mouth! Luckily it didnt fit and I got a net and chased him with it and he spit it out! It was luckily OK and just went to swim with the other 4. It was crazy!
