hey guys, i have a tank needing a salt treatment to rid of ick.. but one of the fish is a pictus cat.. i know there sensitive to the salt, so what should i do

bump the temp, use 1/2!!!!!!! the dosage of ich meds...but try, bump the temp to 85, and use salt...1 table spoon to 5gals. use meds as a last resort.
can you fully explain this in depth, cause i dont want to lose any of my fish lol, so i add the 1 tbls for 5 gallons than what?
do the salt treatment and high temperature first (like above). use meds only if you dont see any results with the salt treatment (only half dose).
But i dont think that will be necessary, I;ve had such good luck with the salt treatment, i cant imagine using meds again.

Yeah, I've never actually used meds in a tank I've set up eva! haha.
yup... so 1tbls per 5g of water in your tank
IF you must use meds, because of the pictus, your going to use half dose (so if the directions say one capfull, your going to use half a cap full.

i appriciate all guys lol, i used the salt so lets see what happens.... that pictus man, lol hes one of my favorites.. eats anything he can fit into his mouth and hes just funny to watch, plus ive had him for 3 years and hes a nice 6 inches

I would not use heat, salt and meds all at the same time.
My choices (in no particular order) are meds only or heat only or heat and salt (where fish can handle the salt.)
Heat only (86-87f) is my personal preference for fish that can handle the heat.
And FYI when adding salt, it's not advisable to add it all at once. Fish can acclimate to higher amounts given time. If it's 1 tbs per 5 gallons, I would split that dosage and add over an 8-12 hours span. Also, when using heat, be sure to increase the heat slowly and observe the fish to see if they are having trouble with the lower oxygen levels. Add aeration if needed.
And lastly, be sure to dry out everything after it's cured. Ich can survive a long time in a damp bucket or inside a partially emptied siphon.
