is it a good idea to put some kind of catfish with a bichir? i want to add something to my tank and i really want a cat of some sort. any ideas on what i should put in my 75 gal my bichir is only about 3-4 inch.:grinno:

any thoughts on what kind i should get? in the past i have kept a tsn but i was thinking something a little smaller. i have a 140 gal that im planning to set up in the next couple of months so i could transfer them when they get a lil bigger

The only cat that is with my bichirs is a black syno. As long as the cat is big enough to avoid getting eaten, but not big enough to eat the bichir, and is pretty peaceful, you should be fine. I would recommend against having any type of pleco with bichirs as they can suck onto the bichir and damage the slime coat/skin and cause infections ( that can lead to death).

you should ive seen these together and they seem to do pretty well but again what ever fits in the others mouth il be eaten thats my rule for life

yeah true, my ornate tried to swallow my pictus lol

I keep a lima with my bicher. So far no problems. They don't even really acknowledge each other. Lima is about 13" bicher about 10".

thanks for all the ideas. i bought a hoplo cat hes about 6inch and great color. i watched them interact together last night for a couple of hours and they did fine.

Right now i have a TSN and a Giraffe cat with my Bichirs.. But if you're looking for a cat that won't get as big as a TSN i'd go for a Lima..
