The only cat that is with my bichirs is a black syno. As long as the cat is big enough to avoid getting eaten, but not big enough to eat the bichir, and is pretty peaceful, you should be fine. I would recommend against having any type of pleco with bichirs as they can suck onto the bichir and damage the slime coat/skin and cause infections ( that can lead to death).
Are you referring to Mystus leucophasis? As for plecos, it depends on the diet met. Most plecos will resort to slime coat if food supply is inadequate. Personally, I do not see a problem mixing most pleco species with bichirs. Doradids will also work well. RTC's though are very risky especially with gaping mouths.

Hoplosternum thoracatum....

I think they rule... Bloody great and get to 7-8" but robust build for the length and i don't think any poly could eat a full size one...

And anyone that want's to say "mine would/did" I'd like to see pics of it full size to believe it....

And totaly safe from an attack the poly point of view.....

Ps: When they say "armour plated catfish" they really are talking about this species...

sure lots of cats do fine with polys theres only three things to worrie about

1. size of course make sure one can't eat the other

2. Plecos and alot of synos aren't recomended as they usually like to eat the slime coat off of bichirs

3. plenty of catfish move much faster then bichirs and may out compette bichirs for food
