I just tested the ammonia in the tank along with an ordinary bottle of water, tank water on the left, bottle water on the right

Either it was a fluke or the additional sponge filters took care of the ammonia. I only tested the ammonia once before I posted the result of .5 ammonia so it could have very well been a fluke, I don’t know why I didn’t test it again after that. Unlikely to have been a fluke I’d say because of the rotting silver sides though

Make sure the water is clean. I’d dose some safe or prime if still out of control. Unfortunately I don’t think its sick. It’s at risk of infection due to being in leaf litter. So I’d dose some prazipro. 1/2 dose in morning and then add other 1/2 dose several
hours later. This catfish is very sensitive. Mine was similar in the beginning. Very difficult to eat. Thought it wasn’t gonna make it. I got it to take food after a good while. Once it ate then it was fine. But a finicky fish for sure. What kind of setup do u have now? Needs a leaf litter or plants in the aquarium. I wouldn’t mix this fish with other fish. Other fish may curb its appetite. I’d keep the 3 together in a tank. Better to help with feeding in groups. The tank has to be left alone except for maintenance. I had to switch the timer on lights so it was dark during the day. Any small amount of light would get these to go catatonic and back to the leaf litter. Their appetite would turn off with any light as well. The fish needs to be in pristine water and the injury will heal up w/o prob. Wait it out and it should feed. If it’s dark In the tank and the cat is hovering that’s when u should attempt feeding. No lights on. It will test ur patience for sure.

I messaged kno4te kno4te haven’t got anything back yet. Looks pretty severe I’m not to sure what to do to be honest. I’d try some aquarium salt.
Weekends are a bit tough. With my family and all.

I lost my prazi pro so I’ll have to order some more and will do so tonight.

In the beginning it was bare bottom with nothing but a sponge filter, now I have some fake caves and what not along with a lot of driftwood that’s not sunk yet. I’m going to be adding some black diamond blasting sand tonight.

I shall move the knifefish out.

That’s slightly problematic since it’s in my bedroom and right in front of a window however I can black out the window and start sleeping on the couch.

And salt to help with the wound? If so what dose do you recommend? I always forget.

Don’t worry about it Ron, I am grateful you answered me as you have no obligation to do so and any responses are given out of willingness to do so.

you know your devoted when you sleep on the couch to benefit your fish lol
A couch is an upgrade for me to the average person, I got rid of my bed months ago and now sleep on a foam mattress topper on the floor to save space. Quite comfy actually.

Do what you can. Fake plants will work as well. Plants or leaf litter is preferred. Would skip the salt and keep nitrates low as possible.

If you dont mind me asking why did you get rid of the bed? More tank space lol
Why would I keep a giant stationary object in my bedroom when I could get rid of it, use a moveable object that serves the same purpose and feels the same, and get more space to use efficiently?

Lots of fake plants lying around, I shall use them along with the leaf litter.
