Catfish won't eat:(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Don't keep moving it back to the old tank, if you are persistent he will start to eat in the new tank - you just have to be patient and give him time, people have had cats go for several weeks without eating after stressful experiences.

I agree. If the fish is not eating due to stress. You definitely do want to keep moving this guy around it might make the situation worse by adding more stress.

Do you have any other fish in with the Ecat?
Does it have a good hiding spot?
What temp are keeping it at?
What are your water prams?

I've had mine a few months now an I have yet to see him eat... I've tried everything from flakes to frozen foods I just put in a worm an he isn't fazed by nothing... the pet shop I bought him from says they were feeding him shrimp pellets I've also tried that as well...can't get him to eat..he has lost much of him size now... any more info much be very much appreciated

When I got my 2 cats they wouldnt eat for the first 2 weeks almost. I was also treating for ich, and still am actually. Now they come out for random swims in full daylight looking for food. Persistance is key. Just keep trying. But I do agree you should just leave the cat in whatever tank you want him in, dont keep adding stress by constantly moving it.

Is yours also an electric catfish? If I were to guess, your tank is not cycled or not aerated enough.

If we going to pursue this earnestly, may I suggest starting your own thread and giving us more info, pictures, water parameters, how they are measured, tank mates, all the essentials, please.

I have to large air stones and a water circulator with 2 water filters and plenty of hiding spots for him...as far as pics goes...all he does is stay under an artificial rock an I dnt really want to disturb him an stress him for a photo op...lol.... tank mates... he has had alot of varietys from angels to balas rainbows an red tail sharks..most recent were a few variety of catfish ...I'm making the tank to a catfish tank eventually...an it's an 80g tank so he has plenty of room...he has minnows that I had left over from a fishing trip...I knows that's not the best practice to do bc of disease...but up until 2 weeks ago he was by himself for a while

this. Check your parameters, that would be my biggest concern

:) With a light bulb tested I presume.

What are your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, and temp? What test kit do you use?

Sooner or later, it will start hunting and killing tankmates, especially when bigger. Mine was ok to about 6"-8".
