i researched sun cats a bit and all the info said they hide alot. im kinda looking for something that will be out a lot, i like the personalities of iridescent sharks, but they get too huge. are theyr any smaller alternatives? srry about bein so picky, but the last 6 cats i bought i were told by the lfs would be very active, but all just hide until the lights are off.

I think you're pretty much stocked, anyways--that is, once your fish hit full size. It's a fact that large predatory pims are almost exclusively bottom dwellers that will exhibit no discernable activity most of the day, save the ocassional lazy swimming. If you REALLY wish to find a fish with personality, might I suggest larger mochokids and peaceful bagrids? They tend tg be more active than pims (I recall someone mentioning horabagrus earlier--which would be perfect).

Another one to look into is the linc (lince?) cat. From what I've read there are two kinds - one that maxes out at ~50cm and on the gets ~80-100cm.

I've never owned one personally, but they are one of my dream fish and I've done some reading about them. They're pretty hardcore and swim around the tank constantly.

I'm definately gonna own one some day...

If you wanna pay for a lince go for it. lol.

tigrinus are great! they are expensive but never beats an exotic fish. got some 10-12" ornate bichirs... mine are very active. hides and goes out.... never stayed under the driftwood. maybe different bichirs have different moods.. and probably majority of ornate does hide a lot, except mine. what about delhenzi? ever considered stingrays?:D

I agree on the ornatus pim. They are one of my favorite fish and all of the ones I have seen were really active. I think you may have just saw a sick one or something.

about being overstocked, ill propably being moving the pictuses, blue acara, striped raphael and possibly the pike(dont know what sp it is) du to their small max size. also ill be getting a 180g. yea id get stingrays if they were legal in my state. if i can get my hands on one ill propably get some ornate pims, i researched them and really liked how they looked. what about bullheads tho? i cant find them on planet catfish but have heard them talked about on mfs
