Guys,

Today i finally got my very first asian aro. Its a Panda Golden and he looks great! Its the fish i showed in earlier topic about the barbels.
I picked it up today as i thought its a superb fish.
But during transport he freaked out and broke his caudal fin... Its almost completely gone and broken from the base. my freaking luck...
I know it should recover but im a bit afraid for infections or something. Should i do anything to help speed up regeneration?

Thanks in advance!

btw, i will post pics of the fish as soon as tail has grown back, it looks a bit fecked now

Aw dang, I hope it grows back. I don't see how a caudal fin could break off. Does it still have the base with some fin rays?

No, its broken off to the base :(
In the Aqualog Aro book, page 195, you can see a pic of what looks like a 100% match. I cannot make a pic now cuz ive turned off the lights for stress.

The breaking is probably done by ramming himself in the cooling box. He went wild and tried to jump a couple of times.

I am sorry for worry but i am sure he will do fine in time... congradulations on your new guy.;)

thanks, very happy with the fish but obviously concerned...
I think the most important thing now is to settle him in and get him eating well and add garlic to the tank will help.
i wish you the best..

yeah, i was thinking the same thing, just let him settle in, get him to eat and keep the water as good as possible.

i read that when grown back, the fins can get even better looking than before?

Thats a good thing to read... very positive ..probably true... let us know when he is eating good.. then i believe the rest will take care of itself. ;)

Better fins I don't believe Haiko. Most times they grow back, slightly askew ( but who cares )...

You need now to prevent infections from setting in, but that will not be a problem for you.

Good luck and why not giving us some pix of your asian, "where is as is"?? Please don't make us wait.....
