good point cmj15, the bullhead will stay hidden until nighfall and they will have similar temperature requirements as well. Cool to see some coldwater types.

how do you keep your pickerel alive in tanks? I had one and all of this fungis stuff started to grow on him. He was still alive though. I let him go but i was wondering how to take good care of them in fish tanks.

wait you let a clearly sick fish go?
for your sake i hope whatever the fish had wasn't contagious.

Read the sticky on releasing fish at the top of this portion of the forum.
My fingerling's are in a ten gallon.

evan grass Not to be a prick but if you do not know how to take care of a specific fish you should not keep it. There is plenty of info available on this site and on the whole rest of the web on almost all fishes habits, food, and habitat. Also you should never under any circumstance ever release a sick fish or any fish for that matter into the wild. That is the reason us fish owners get a bad name and fish become illegal to own. It also spreads disease to wild bodies of water not equiped to deal with it that kill large amounts of fish or give them dieases at the very least making them unhealty or inedible. Please read more info on keeping fish before obtaining any more especialy natives!

Absolutely, fish keepers need to stop being our own worst enemies. No excuse for releasing a sick fish into the wild. If you can't keep it kill it. Once in captivity no fish should ever be released back into the wild

The key is in the way it is caught, the way it is handled after capture and the size of the fish and the size of the tank and the water quality. small fish do better when captured from the wild than adult fish do, keeping the fish healthy with out damage is important when bringing the fish back. making sure your tank has good water quality and big enough for the fish to swim around with out beating it's self to death is very important. a pickerel is going to need live minnows as food too.
