HE PROBABl knew what it was until he saw the weird markings and the longfns.

So your saying, if I understand, "HE PROBABl" knew but since the fins had weird markings, now it is rare?:D

I have a question, if you caught a fish, you cannot identify, how do you know it is rare. May just not be endemic to the area you collect in.
ive been collecting fish for 5 years. Ive gone with research exp, aquariums, research centers, and privite trips. I have never seen on of these before as well as outher reg collecter's that i know that's how i know it's a rare fish to the area.

Imature threadfin pompano, here is a pic of a somewhat older one (mounted) www.fishtaxidermist.com/pompano.jpg Not often found so far north but pretty common in gulf of mexico

threadfin lookdowns and threadfin pompano are different but closely related species.

if anyone want's to find alive pic's of the fish the full name is Threadfin Pompano (alectis Speciosus)

I guess I was wrong fish finder apologizes I thought it was a juv lookdown. and by the way armac any saltwater fish with a genitic malfunction, like markings, abnormal fins, one eye are PROBABLY considered to be rare, and fish finder is right that fish is hard to come about.
