Caught two strange fish today.

The first one does sound like a big common shiner, as for the second i'm thinking that it was a small walleye. I've caught some small ones in the tailout of a dam and that looks pretty similar to what you have there, also it fits your description

Definitely sounds like a walleye, or possibly saugeye, or sauger. Don't know what you have in your area.
