Hey,
gratulations !!!
What disc diameter do the parents have? What age?
Sounds very interesting :) Any special about keeping SW Rays? A friend of mine tried Bluespotted but never had luck for long time.

Hey if you have any questions on the yellow breeding or need any advice feel free to ask me Ive breed quite a few of them. In fact i just had two pups born a few weeks back.

really sad to see the pups stillborn, but hopefully next time it'll be different

Hope that the next time is more succesful!!
They are really awesome looking parents!

My little California Round pups are growing and seem to be healthy, but all they eat is PE Mysis and I feed 2-3 time a day, is that a good diet for them or should I ween them off that ? I see on the package that the PE is 69 % protein and thought that would be a good thing.

Alex - These two are about 8-10" across right now. Both were wild caught as adults. I've seen them breed at 3 years, but the littlers tend to be bigger if the female is 4 or 5 years.

I used to breed them in MN, but we bred so many rays/sharks that stats tend to blur together. What kind of gestations are you seeing. I was thinking 160 days or so. Is that right or am I thinking of a different species?? Marine rays we bred were Yellows, Rounds, Cortez, Atlantics and Southerns. I was forced to leave all copies of records at the aquarium when I left up there. :irked: Male has bred the female again already, so I'm keeping more accurate records of these two this time.

Errm, guess I should have read this thread sooner, might have saved you a headache Matt, lol. I have a pdf I can e-mail you of the 2007 Zoology Supplement, covering preliminary observations on the reproductive cycle and uterine fecundity of yellow rays..... ya know, if you want it....
