THey're easy to keep, I had a trio I sold a few years back, they ate bloodworms, blackworms, and pellets. I kept them in a 10g planted tank. Never had any issues..

Oh wow neat. I imagine not an animal you see much. mostly hides?.

I had one back when I was a kid, big time escape artist, more than even morays or polypterus

They would hide under pieces of driftwood most of the day, I would normall be able to watch them cruise at night, or after I dropped some bloodworms. They have a very keen sense of smell.

Hello Cameron;

I have kept caecilians for years.I just lost the one that I have kept for over 12 years.She escaped from the shipper that was shipping all my fish to me.She look like a snake she got so big.I would like to buy some if he still has some for sale.If you have any question about them give me a PM

Thanks thought for most part they hid . I would have not thought they had keen sense of smell.

I love these things, I've had them for years. They are very hard to come by in the US. The kind that is pictured is the aquatic version called T. natans. They eat worms, night crawlers are perfect. I usually cut up the worms before I feed, not necessary but it seems easier for the caecilian to find the cut up worm. It's sometimes frustrating to watch because the caecilian will swim right over the food then back up then swim over it again. I find my self trying to do the Jeti mind trick "left, left, damn it, it's to your left!" LOL These things should be kept alone or with top level fish that wont compete for the food. They will hide most of the time, sometimes I can't find them because they are completely buried under the sand. They do come up for air every 30 minutes to an hour and they always come out to feed. You will really enjoy these animals!
